McCoy Construction & Forestry is seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Vice President of Operations to lead the operational performance of our growing McCoy Construction & Forestry dealerships.
This is a high-impact executive leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence across our dealership network, including equipment sales, rental, parts, service, technology, logistics, and branch operations. The VP of Operations will partner closely with the President and executive leadership team to translate company strategy into measurable results while building a culture centered on safety, customer service, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader who understands the heavy equipment or dealership environment and knows how to turn strategy into execution across multiple locations located in Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky.
What You Will Do:
Executive & Operational Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across the dealership’s locations and departments.
- Develop and execute annual and long-term operating plans aligned with company growth objectives.
- Establish clear performance expectations, operating standards, and accountability throughout the organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, profitability, customer experience, and operational consistency.
Financial & Business Performance
- Own operational budgets, forecasting, expense management, and productivity initiatives.
- Monitor key performance indicators and use data to identify trends, opportunities, and corrective actions.
- Improve return on invested capital through effective management of inventory, facilities, equipment, and other assets.
- Evaluate capital expenditures and operational investments based on strategic priorities and expected returns.
Parts, Service & Customer Support
- Drive excellence in the dealership’s parts and service operations.
- Improve technician productivity, service absorption, work-order performance, turnaround times, and customer satisfaction.
- Partner with department leaders to improve customer retention and customer value.
- Ensure customers receive exceptional ownership experience throughout the equipment lifecycle.
Equipment, Rental & Inventory
- Provide leadership for new and used equipment inventory strategies.
- Optimize equipment turns, aging inventory, utilization, rental performance, and overall asset productivity.
- Work closely with Sales and Finance to balance inventory availability with working-capital requirements.
- Establish disciplined processes for equipment acquisition, disposition, transportation, and fleet management.
People & Leadership Development
- Lead, coach, and develop branch and departmental leaders.
- Establish a strong culture of accountability, communication, collaboration, and performance.
- Recruit and retain high-performing leaders and employees in a competitive labor market.
- Ensure managers have the tools, training, and resources necessary to succeed.
Safety & Operational Excellence
- Champion a proactive, company-wide safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with applicable company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Establish and monitor operational standards across all locations.
- Drive continuous-improvement initiatives that eliminate waste, improve efficiency, and strengthen execution.
Growth & Strategic Initiatives
- Support the company’s growth strategy, including new locations, acquisitions, facility investments, and market expansion.
- Lead operational integration of new locations, businesses, and teams.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve customer outcomes and dealership performance.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Human Resources, IT, Marketing, and other leadership teams to execute strategic initiatives.
What We Are Looking For:
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, automotive, industrial distribution, or a related industry.
- Experience leading multi-location operations is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing senior leaders and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of dealership operations, including parts, service, equipment, rental, and/or inventory management.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, KPIs, and P&L performance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or finance, MBA is preferred.
- Experience with Construction & Forestry products, dealer systems, or the heavy-equipment industry is highly desirable.
